Colorful rain

A great idea for your lesson to learn or review colors. Your child or student will be easily involved in the process. The main advantage of it is that he or she can develop language skills listening to you as well  as creativity and imagination.

Flashcards

Follow our plan to get highest results:

Part 1: the beginning. Choose and ask to complete your child the lessons about the colors you are going to use. We took green, blue, and red.

Part 2: Preparations. Prepare all things needed for the practice part.

Part 3: Practice and experiment.

Part 4: Sum up.

Part 1: the beginning

Start your lesson in a friendly way, be patient and manage your lessons according to children`s abilities and willingness. If you began to teach your child recently he might have some difficulties but following our plans and ideas will help you to handle all the problems. You can contact us anytime if you have any questions about teaching and will try to help you.

Below you will read the phrases you can use during your lesson, you can use all of them or choose the most suitable for you and your child`s level. If you are new to that combine English language with your native. It will help your child to get used to a new situation.

Parent/Teacher: "Good morning, dear! Today we will do a very cool thing but before we start I want to show you something. (You can say only "Good morning, dear" in English, the rest in your native language. Take flashcards with colors, show them and ask in your language: "What are these? Your child will answer that he sees colors but if he or she  can`t answer ask him/her about colors you show and after that tell your child you are going to learn colors today and and have an experiment.)

P/T: "Today I will tell you how people who live in the other countries name these colors. They live in different place and they did not know how to call these colors and decided to name them in their own way. But if we want to understand them we should learn about it as well. And as you noticed I also know how these people speak. (Show the flashcards with the colors you are going to learn)

P/T: "Look at these colors. Today we will learn blue, red and green(while saying show the flashcard) and have an experiment with water. I will show which one.(show our video to motivate your child and make him anxious about it)"

P/T: "Did you like it?" (Ask in English then in your native language to let your child understand you, tell him that he can answer "yes" or "no")

P/T: "Before we start our experiment I want you to complete these lessons."

(Open the required lessons: red, blue, green. Let your child do the tasks on his own as much as he can. If you see that he really needs help then explain what to do.)

Part 2: the preparation

P/T: "Now you know new words and ready to move. Let`s check if we have everything we need. (Point and ask)

1. Let`s check the colors. Do we have them? Yes or no?

Child: "Yes"

P/T: "Great! What color is it? (point and ask)

Ch: "Blue"

(The same with other colors.)

P/T: "Wow! Well done! and now repeat after me: It`s blue."(point and say)"It`s green." "It`s red."

2. P/T: "Excellent! Let`s check if we have enough water. Yes or no?"

Point to the water and ask to repeat 3 times: "It`s water."

3. P/T: "Nice! Let`s check the rest." (Point to an object and ask) "Do we have a shaving foam?Yes or no?" (after you get a respond ask about the last one) "Do we have a dropper? Yes or no?"

You can ask your child to learn the last 2 words if you want but these words are quite difficult to pronounce for children 3-4 years old. If he or she listens to these words a couple of times during the lesson or another lesson he or she will remember these words.

Part 3: practice and experiment

P/T: "Now we are ready to start. First I take a shaving foam to make clouds"

Take a shaving foam and make some clouds as it`s shown in the video.

P/T: "Now, take a dropper and fill some blue color using your dropper." (let him or her to do that, if needed show how to do it first) "Now pour it on the clouds. Fantastic! Keep doing that!"

P/T: "Take green and do the same. Wow! How beautiful!"

P/T: "Take red and keep making rain! Wonderful!"

By the end of the experiment you can pour all the colors together and observe how the colors mix together in the water.

Part 4: sum up

The last part is very important. It shows whether your child likes it or not, which words memorizes, he or she can express his or her feelings about all that and you can see if your child is motivated to keep learning or not.

P/T: "Today you did a great job! we had so much fun! Did you like it? Yes or no?"

Ask questions about the colors and water.

P/T: "What color is it?"

Ch: "Blue" or "It`s blue"

If he answers using a only a word you can correct carefully. Don`t pay much attention and don`t show if there is something wrong. He will definitely start making sentences in a while. Just don`t push too much in the beginning. Don`t forget to praise your child, do it as much as you can! If he can`t answer the word you can say the first sound of the word. In this case children usually answer immediately. But don`t worry if he or she did not start speaking on the first lesson, everyone can start speaking but everyone needs a certain time to get used to it.

P/T: "What`s this?"

Ch: "It`s water" or "water"

P/T: "You are so smart! Give me 5! Well done!

This is one of the lessons you can teach your child on your own! The first advantage of these lessons is for both parent and child. While teaching you can learn English both as well. The second is - your child develops not only language skills such as listening and speaking but also creativity, imagination, ability to think and other mental process. He learns to do lots of things and English at the same time and all the children will be easily involved in the process of learning language doing these exciting lessons. All the children will easily memorize new words and sentences because it`s interesting and unusual, they don`t think that somebody pushing them to learn something, because it`s just a game for them and we know it very well that all the children learn by playing games!
