To teach this lesson download our flashcards. In this episode we are learning greetings and the way how to ask about smb`s name. Follow the plan and achieve results.
Key words: Good morning, hello, bye.
Key sentences: What`s your name? My name is... Nice to meet you(too).
Extra words: good afternoon, good evening, good night.
P/T : "Good morning, dear! Today we are going to watch a cartoon and play games. Sounds great, isn`t it? Are you ready?
After your child answers, find out how people always start a conversation, what they tell each other when they meet, what you say when you see your friends or come to the kindergarten. You should come to an agreement that people start a conversation by saying "hello" to each other. You can discuss it using your native language. After that say the following:
P/T: "That`s right! and people can say it in different ways: Hello, good morning, good afternoon, good evening and others. Let`s look at the flashcards and find out its meanings.
Take flashcards with greetings and ask your child to repeat after you. Follow the phrases:
P/T: "Repeat after me: hello...hello..hello!"
"Good morning!...Good..morning!...Good morning!
Nice! Good...afternoon! Good afternoon! Good afternoon!
Well done! And the last one: Good evening! Good evening! Good evening!
Make pauses when you pronounce these words. Let your child to understand you clearly. After you repeat all the words play a game with flashcards to memorize new words. Put the flashcards all over the room and ask your child to find them and name. Explain the rules in your language or play this game yourself to show the example how to play. If the child can`t name it then name it together again.
P/T: "Well! Now let`s play a game. I will put the flashcards on the floor and you have to find the one I tell you and try to name it as well." ............. Find: hello! ....Perfect! Find: good afternoon! .........Nice! Find good morning! ....Super! Find Good evening!.....Great! So now lets watch a cartoon!
After you play watch the whole cartoon without pauses. After you watch ask you child if he/she likes it or not. Ask him/ her if he/she heard the greetings. Discuss it in your language. After that remote the cartoon to 1:06 and say:
P/T: "Let`s say Good morning to our new friends!
P/T: "Very well! Now let`s tell them our names: My name is (your name). What`s your name?
Practice this sentence with your child. And act out a short dialogue together. Ask each other and answer. Take his/her favorite toys and play with them as well acting out this dialogue.
P/T: "That`snice! Now you know how to say your name in English! Well done! And now let`s learn how to end a talk.
Find out what people say when they end their conversation or what you tell your friends when you go home. Discuss it in your language. After that take the flashcard "bye" and ask to repeat after you:
P/T: "Repeat after me: bye...bye...bye!
"And one more phrase I want to teach you: Good night! Good night! Good night!
Explain the meaning of the last word. Tell that people say it to each other when they go to bed. And since now you are going to use this phrase every evening before going to bed. After that play hide and seek game with all flashcards to practice all the words one more time. You need to hide the flashcards in the room and ask your child to find them. When the flashcard is found ask to name it. If help needed say it together. Explain it in your language or play yourself as an example.
P/T: Fantastic! Now let`s play hide and seek! I will hide the flashcards and you should find them! Are you ready? Let`s say: ready!
After you play sum up the lesson. ASk to tell your child`s name and ask to ask your name as well. Ask different questions in your language if your child likes it or not, what words he/she memorizes, what we say when we greet, the way of ending a conversation.
